This Pokemon Surging Sparks box is a must-buy while it lasts

The Pokemon Trading Card Game’s latest Scarlet & Violet set, Stellar Crown, just released this past Friday. But another highly anticipated expansion is already on deck.

Pre-orders are available for a November 8 release of Surging Sparks — including a product worth snapping up before it’s gone.

The Pokemon Center’s Elite Trainer Box retails at $59.99, and this one should prove quite valuable whether you plan to open it or keep it sealed.

If opening, you’ll receive 11 booster packs along with both the standard and Pokemon Center-stamped versions of a flashy Magneton promo card. It’s illustrated by Shinji Kanda, whose other works include Lost Origin’s Giratina V ($336 market price per TCGplayer) and Paldea Evolved’s Magikarp ($118).

Keep your Surging Sparks Elite Trainer Box sealed, and you also figure to sit on a solid investment. The box art features Pikachu, which could be pictured on this set’s eventual chase card. Collectors will also be looking for illustrations of Latios and Latias that blend their artwork when displayed next to one another.

There are two Scarlet & Violet sets released at least a year ago with a single Elite Trainer Box design (as opposed to for instance the base set, which featured Koraidon and Miraidon versions). See below, per PriceCharting.com, how Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Boxes compare to their standard retail counterparts.

Surging Sparks introduces players to more Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, including Pikachu ex. In this expansion, players can collect and battle with cards themed around the Terarium — an artificial paradise first introduced in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 2: The Indigo Disk DLC for the Scarlet and Pokémon Violet video games.

As a standard set, Surging Sparks will also feature the regular array of products such as booster boxes and bundles.
