3 innovative Pokemon cards apps to track your collection’s value

Thanks to some enterprising developers, more ways to digitally account for your Pokemon cards — and their value over time — continue to emerge.

Here’s more on a trio of free Pokemon cards apps, plus a unique feature from each.

Pkmn.gg

This platform is perfect for anyone collecting a master set. As you pull cards, pkmn.gg allows you to check them off, even reverse holos.

You can also create custom lists if, say, you’re trying to collect every Pikachu or Charizard card. As you add cards, the app will tally their worth in real time. Pkmn.gg is also a great follow on X/Twitter, where they recently teased a new feature that’s sure to be popular: a virtual binder.

Rare Candy

Launched by Lee Steinfeld, known within the Pokemon community as Leonhart, Rare Candy presents an all-in-one platform where collectors can track their cards and visit a marketplace to buy more either at auction or fixed prices.

A standout Rare Candy feature: the tally tool. Allow the app access to your camera, and you can photograph cards to see them show up in your collection. The tally tool isn’t foolproof. But it’s effective to the degree that Leonhart recently announced it had reached 2 million uses by the Pokemon community.

Shiny

From Shiny Cardboard, LLC, this app available through both Apple and Google Play tracks not just Pokemon but also multiple other trading card games.

The prior options here are ideal for those who rip their Pokemon packs. Shiny sets itself apart by also tracking values on sealed collections. Investors can go as far as inputting the price they paid for a piece of sealed product to track gains on it.
